DONETSK, January 16. /TASS/. Ukrainian attacks on Donetsk have intensified in the wake of the latest delivery of a batch of missiles to Ukraine that its armed forces have been trying to test amid foggy weather conditions which impede air defenses, an officer with the People’s Militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) told TASS on Monday.
Since this morning, Ukrainian forces have been shelling the DPR heavily, using multiple rocket launchers and NATO artillery. Apart from Donetsk and Makeyevka, Golmovsky, Gorlovka, Yelenovka and Shirokaya Balka have been under attack.
"They [the Ukrainians] have received yet another batch of missiles from their Western sponsors, and they have been making attempts to test them. They are not a new type of missile, just from a new batch, but they need to test them out," the officer said. "The weather is foggy in Donetsk today, with low clouds, and the timing for precision fire is absolutely wrong. However, we also find it harder to identify firing positions, and our air defenses have been struggling, so they have been firing sideways in an attempt to assess the results in safer conditions," he added. "We will certainly do our best to dispel their misconceptions about the safety of blind shelling of the city," he assured.
