Acting Kursk region governor revises death toll in Rylsk attack down to five

The number of those injured in the missile attack was revised up to 12 from 10

RYLSK /Kursk Region/, December 21. /TASS/. An earlier report of a child killed in Friday’s attack by Ukrainian troops on the town of Rylsk in the bordering Russian region of Kursk was not confirmed, acting governor Alexander Khinshtein reported via Telegram messenger.

He revised the death toll down to five. "Earlier reports said six people were killed. No, five people died, with no children among those killed," Khinshtein said in a video address.

However, the number of those injured in the missile attack was revised up to 12 from 10, the official added, citing updated reports. Of those, nine are currently staying at hospital, he said.

Khinshtein earlier said the Ukrainian strike occurred at 3:30 p.m. Moscow time (12:30 p.m. GMT) on Friday. According to him, several HIMARS rockets were shot down as civilian facilities were targeted. The Russian Investigative Committee is investigating the attack as a terrorist act.
