Russian seafood exports to China may exceed $4 bln in 2026 — Federal Agency for Fishery

Russian aquatic products exports to China has already exceeded the full-year figure for 2025

SHANGHAI, October 28. /TASS/. The value of seafood shipments from Russia to China could surpass $4 billion by the end of 2026, Sergey Mikheyev, a representative of the Russian Federal Agency for Fishery in China, told TASS.

"Between January and September 2026, Russia exported $3.32 billion worth of aquatic products to China, marking a 53.1% year-on-year increase," Mikheyev noted. "Furthermore, the full-year figure for 2025, which stood at $3.2 billion, has already been exceeded. If the current trend holds, exports could reach $4.1-$4.2 billion by the end of this year."

On October 28, the China Fisheries & Seafood Expo, the largest trade show for the fishing, seafood, and processing technology sectors, opened in the Chinese city of Qingdao. More than 60 Russian enterprises are participating in the event, occupying an exhibition space of over 1,600 square meters.

"Participation in this expo facilitates a direct dialogue between the two sides, which further helps secure mutually beneficial trading terms," Mikheyev said, commenting on the presence of Russian companies. "Such exhibitions are crucial for expanding the reach of domestic exporters, both within the Chinese market and into third countries."

A Chinese delegation - led by Ma Yuxian, a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and former Vice Minister of Agriculture, alongside Sun Haiwen, Deputy Director of the Fisheries Bureau under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs - visited the Russian pavilion. The delegation was welcomed by Kirill Kolonchin, Director of the Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO); Sergey Mikheyev, Federal Agency for Fishery’s representative in China; and Ivan Fetisov, CEO of Expo Solutions Group, the pavilion's organizer. The parties reviewed products from Russian enterprises and exchanged views on the prospects for future cooperation.

The Russian pavilion has been a fixture at the China Fisheries & Seafood Expo for 10 years, becoming an essential component of Russia’s presence in the Chinese market and a key tool for promoting domestic fishery products.

The China Fisheries & Seafood Expo is China's largest international exhibition for the fisheries, seafood, and related technology sectors, held annually in Qingdao. In 2025, the event hosted over 1,500 companies and welcomed 45,000 visitors from 139 countries. The Russian national pavilion has participated in the exhibition since 2016.
