MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. Moscow could implement projects worth several billion dollars in Sahel countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger) at the initial stage of its partnership with them, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters.
"Russia is interested in it. We have a wide range of projects that could be implemented in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, the Sahel countries. We will discuss all those investment projects, and financing mechanisms on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Forum. <…> At the initial stage this amounts to several billion dollars. Overall, Africa holds great potential for investment across various countries," he stated on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum.
That said, only those investment projects that are economically beneficial to both investor and country will be implemented, Novak added.
"The range is quite broad, including geological exploration and our advanced technologies. We are currently actively promoting various projects related to digital platforms in African states. Yandex is already present in many countries. Therefore, there is a broad range of proposals across various sectors that we are ready to discuss with our African partners, and we have already shared certain proposals with them," he explained.
