LONDON, September 24. /TASS/. About 60 commercial vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, transporting 22 million barrels of oil, the largest daily volume since the beginning of July, Reuters quoted an unnamed US official as saying.

The source also said that about 40 of these vessels coordinated their actions with the US military to ensure protection.

Reuters said it could not verify this data from independent sources.

Before the war with Iran began on February 28, about 125 large commercial vessels per day typically passed through the strait, including bulk carriers and container ships, tankers and gas carriers, which transported about 20% of the world’s daily supplies of oil and liquefied natural gas.

In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. However, on the night of July 8, the United States resumed large·scale strikes against Iran, accusing it of violating the agreements on the Strait of Hormuz.
