MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. Gonets 2.0 satellite system will provide uninterrupted communications for drones across the whole of Russia, the Gonets Satellite System Company said.
"Gonets 2.0 satellite system created by Roscosmos and comprising 32 spacecraft will ensure uninterrupted communications for unmanned aerial vehicles in the whole territory of Russia," it said.
Its satellite modem is distinguished by a record small size and weight of 89 grams and can be installed on various drones.
Gonets CEO Andrey Manoilo visited the production center of unmanned aerial systems in Tomsk region and reported to Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov and First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Andrey Yatskin about the latest Gonets designs in the sphere of satellite communication channels for unmanned aerial vehicles.
Manoilo earlier told TASS Gonets would work to ensure information security of joint flights of unmanned and manned aircraft in Tomsk region and in the whole of the Siberian Federal District in future.
New-generation Gonets 2.0 provides communications, including telephony, on the whole Russian territory, including hard-of-access Arctic regions. It helps monitor critically important facilities and the infrastructure of the Internet of Things. The space grouping has to comprise 28 Gonets-M1 satellites in the low-Earth orbit of 1,500 km in altitude. Former Gonets chief Pavel Cherenkov told TASS in December 2023 the grouping has to be fully deployed in 2029.
