Russian regulator suspends type approval for Shacman SX3258 trucks

The watchdog issued a series of improvement notices to a representative of the Shacman automobile plant

MOSCOW, February 10. /TASS/. The Russian Federal Agency on Technical Regulation and Metrology, Rosstandart, suspended the motor vehicle type approval issued for Type SX3258 Shacman trucks, the regulator said.

"The reason of making such decision by Rosstandart is the nonconformity of Type SX3258 Shacman motor vehicles to the whole range of compulsory requirements to wheeled motor vehicles found within the framework of performed control (supervision) activities, specifically as regards noise restrictions, rear underrun and side protection devices, etc. These violations pose significant threat to life and health of drivers and other road traffic participants," the regulator informed.

The watchdog issued a series of improvement notices to a representative of the Shacman automobile plant. They comprise development of a recall program with a repair solution and suspension of any sales of such trucks. According to the authority, more than 15,000 potentially dangerous trucks were imported into Russia and 2,170 of them are already in service.
