MADRID, February 10. /TASS/. Russia ranked third in terms of liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies to Spain in January 2025, according to data provided by Spanish energy company Enagas.
According to the report, Spain bought the equivalent of 6,464 GWh of LNG from Russia this January (18.1% of the total quantity). As a result, Russia took the third position in terms of this fuel supply volumes to the country, behind the US and Algeria. In January 2024, Madrid purchased 8,687 GWh of gas from Russia (26.9% of the total volume).
Enagas earlier reported that Spain acquired 72,360 GWh of Russian LNG in 2024, compared to 72,690 GWh in 2023. Based on last year's data, Russia became the kingdom's second largest gas provider.
Russian Ambassador in Madrid Yury Klimenko said earlier that Spain was among the largest Russian LNG importers in the EU. Russian gas is supplied at competitive and attractive prices for the kingdom, the diplomat said.
