MINSK, January 25. /TASS/. A number of Belarusian military units have been put on the highest alert within the framework of a comprehensive combat and mobilization readiness check, which began on Monday, the Defense Ministry’s press service has said.
"The main purpose of the measures being taken is to check and enhance combat and mobilization readiness and the ability of military units to cope with their tasks in the current conditions," the Defense Ministry said.
Some military units have been put on the highest combat alert. "In part, an instruction has been issued to bring one of the units of the 120th mechanized infantry brigade up to strength and alert it," the Defense Ministry said.
Drills will be conducted at all of the armed forces’ proving grounds and some other areas. "The troops are to operate in different conditions - negotiate water obstacles and cope with combat training tasks in both day and nighttime, in forest areas and in populated communities," the press service said. Special attention will be paid to the condition of weapons, equipment and logistics.
"Final tests and tactical exercises, including firing practice, will complete the readiness check," the Belarusian Defense Ministry said.
