French President also said that Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko had not asked the European Union for military aid

BRUSSELS, August 31 /ITAR-TASS/. French President Francois Hollande said on Sunday that arms supplies to Ukraine would be useless and could further expand the armed confrontation.

“This is a signal that we are sending to Russia. It should stop delivering weapons to Ukraine and contribute to de-escalating the conflict,” Hollande told a briefing held after the EU summit in Brussels.

He also said that Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko had not asked the European Union for military aid.
