One dead, three wounded after attack on checkpoint in Donetsk region

All indication were there that standing behind the attack were members of the Right Sector neo-Nazi grouping and Ukrainian army servicemen

DONETSK, May 06, /ITAR-TASS/. One person died and another three were wounded as a result of an attacked by unknown masked gunmen on a checkpoint near the seaside city of Mariupol in the south of Donetsk region, Dmitry Simonov, the press secretary of the Donbass Area Self-Defense Forces told Itar-Tass.

He said all indication were there that standing behind the attack were members of the Right Sector neo-Nazi grouping and Ukrainian army servicemen.

“Quite possibly, the masked Right Sector militants who were supported by the servicemen armed with assault rifles attacked the checkpoints near the town ship of Argobaza in the vicinity of Mariupol,” Simonov said.

“As a result of the attack, one person died and another three were wounded, one of them seriously,” he said adding that the self-defense commanders were trying to get information on the latter man’s condition.

“Judging by all, about a thousand (pro-government) fighters have been drawn towards Mariupol and an assault on the city with a later mop-up is about to begin,” Simonov said.
