Tymoshenko calls to take steps to sever Ukraine’s dependence on Russia

"It is a strategic task to re-orient Ukraine’s exports," Ukraine’s former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko says

KIEV, April 01. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who is running for president with the Batkivshchina (Fatherland) party, has called to spare no effort to sever Ukraine’s dependence on Russia.

“It is necessary to take all possible measures to get over Ukraine’s dependence on Russia in the economic, humanitarian and military areas,” she said. “It is a strategic task. To re-orient Ukraine’s exports, we signed a political section of the association agreement with the European Union, and the European Union has unilaterally opened its market for Ukrainian goods. This will give Ukrainian manufacturers a possibility to re-orient their exports from Russia to Europe," she added.
