Bulgarian foreign ministry summons Ukrainian ambassador over drone incident — agency

The ambassador will visit the ministry on August 10

SOFIA, August 9. /TASS/. The Foreign Ministry of Bulgaria summoned Ukrainian Ambassador Olesya Ilashchuk after a drone, presumably of the Ukrainian armed forces, exploded on the territory of Bulgaria, the BTA news agency reported.

The ambassador will visit the ministry on Monday, because she is not in Bulgaria now.

Earlier, the Bulgarian Defense Minstry said that, according to preliminary investigation findings, a Ukrainian drone exploded on the country’s territory near a former checkpoint on the border with Romania. Initial examination identified the unmanned aerial vehicle as a Maya decoy drone, a type widely used by the Ukrainian armed forces. "There are no grounds to suspect that this incident was deliberate," the ministry said in a statement.
