Germany concerned of F-35 jets deal with the US after decisions on Ukraine — Bild

Germany specifically fears that F-35A to be supplied to the German armed forces will be fitted with the Kill Switch system and the US will simply deactivate them if necessary

BERLIN, March 9. /TASS/. Germany has started expressing concerns regarding implementation of a multi-billion deal with the United States on the purchase of F-35 fifth-generation fighter jets for the Bundeswehr after certain decisions of US President Donald Trump on Ukraine, the Bild newspaper said.

Germany specifically fears that F-35A to be supplied to the German armed forces will be fitted with the Kill Switch system and the US will simply deactivate them if necessary. Deliveries are planned to start from 2026. Several billion euros more will be spend to upgrade the infrastructure for F-35 jets.

"If we should fear that the US would make with the future German F-35 [jets] the same as they do in Ukraine now, then the issue of contract cancellation may be considered," ex-chairman of the Munich Security Conference Wolfgang Ischinger said, cited by the Bild.

US President Donald Trump ordered earlier to suspend all the military aid to Ukraine in several days after the heated argument with Vladimir Zelensky in the White House on February 28. Information appeared later that the US does not provide target coordinates for offensive operations of Ukraine any more, including HIMARS systems.
