French lawmakers adopt no-confidence motion against Barnier’s government

The motion was supported by 331 lawmakers, well above the required minimum of 289 votes

PARIS, December 4. /TASS/. The National Assembly, the lower chamber of the French parliament, has voted to pass a motion of no confidence against the government of Michel Barnier, effectively ousting him.

"In accordance with the French Constitution, Michel Barnier is to submit his resignation letter to the president of the republic," Speaker Ya·l Braun-Pivet announced.

The motion was supported by 331 lawmakers, well above the required minimum of 289 votes.
