BUDAPEST, December 5. /TASS/. US ambassador to Budapest David Pressman "behaves as if Hungary were the 51st state of the United States and he was its governor," the State Secretary for Bilateral Relations at the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Tamas Menczer, has said.
"David Pressman behaves as if Hungary were the 51st state of the United States and he was its governor," the government portal About Hungary quotes Menczer as saying. The Hungarian diplomat commented on the US ambassador's remarks at the opening ceremony of the 12th Jewish Film Festival in Budapest. Pressman then criticized posters that hinted at the connection between the Soros family of major US businessmen of Jewish-Hungarian origin and the leadership of the European Commission.
"We say 'no' to migration. That decision by Hungarian voters must be respected," Menczer continued. "It is a problem that the US ambassador doesn't." The Hungarian diplomat also emphasized that Hungary was "one of the best places in the world" in terms of security for people with a Jewish identity, while on the other hand, anti-Semitism "has never been such a great problem in the US as now."
As the portal explains, Jewish people only represent 2% of the US population but suffer some 55% of hate crime cases. According to Menczer, fully 88% of Jews view anti-Semitism as a problem in the US.
