Minsk registers airspace violation attempts by Ukraine daily — KGB

The Border Security Committee announced that reinforced border security units have been deployed in case a reaction is necessary; guard equipment is in active use; mobile border security groups have been engaged

MINSK, October 20. /TASS/. Minsk registers attempts to violate the Belarusian airspace from the Ukrainian territory, as well as growing reconnaissance activities on the neighboring territory every day, State Security Committee (KGB) head Ivan Tertel said Thursday.

"Unfortunately, the situation on our Southern direction is becoming very serious. Almost every day, we see growing reconnaissance activity from the Ukrainian territory, every day we register attempt to violate the airspace of the Republic of Belarus," Tertel said, according to BelTA.

According to the official, "between 6 and 10 such facts" are being registered daily, all of them being thwarted.

Previously, head of the Belarusian State Border Security Committee Anatoly Lappo underscored that Kiev must withdraw its servicemen in order to prevent potential conflicts. According to Lappo, "almost all border bridges (on the Ukrainian side) have been blown up; automobile roads and railways near the border have completely been rigged with explosives."

The Border Security Committee announced that reinforced border security units have been deployed in case a reaction is necessary; guard equipment is in active use; mobile border security groups have been engaged.

In early October, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko noted that Ukraine is worried that Belarus can join the hostilities, while Ukraine itself has amassed up to 15,000 servicemen at its northern border.
