Residents of Alyoshki reunited with their relatives, Kherson Region ombudsperson says

Sergey Georgiev reported that several evacuees remain in hospitals in the Republic of Crimea

GENICHESK, November 3. /TASS/. Residents of Alyoshki in the Kherson Region who evacuated to the Russian side during a joint humanitarian operation by Russia, Ukraine and the United States have been helped to reunite with their relatives, Kherson Region Human Rights Commissioner Sergey Georgiev told TASS.

"Some of those evacuated expressed a desire to return to the Kherson Region and reunite with their relatives. We spoke with each family. We essentially handed people over directly to their loved ones to make sure they would be looked after and provided with housing," Georgiev said.

He added that several evacuees remain in hospitals in the Republic of Crimea, where they are undergoing physical and psychological rehabilitation.

"It is important to understand that for a long time, despite the incredible feat of the staff at the Alyoshki Central District Hospital, who provided them with assistance under shelling, these people needed highly qualified medical care, including specialized treatment. Several people were immediately hospitalized. I am in contact with the chief physicians of the medical facilities," the ombudsperson said.

Earlier, Russia and Ukraine agreed on a US First Lady Melania Trump-mediated ceasefire in Alyoshki to carry out a humanitarian operation. The ceasefire in the area came into force at 4:00 a.m. Moscow time (1:00 a.m. GMT) on October 27 to prepare and conduct the humanitarian operation in the city. A humanitarian mission was carried out on October 30. Several dozen tons of humanitarian aid - food, hygiene and sanitation products, fuels for power generators, and other daily essentials - were handed out to the city residents, Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova said. All those willing to leave the city were given the opportunity to evacuate either to Russia or to Ukraine.
