MOSCOW, September 20. /TASS/. Russian regional authorities and the military have a vast experience and are ready for Kiev’s provocations expected during the ongoing parliamentary vote, Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik said.
"The Ukrainian side is not hiding its efforts, as they have been trying in every possible way to undertake various defiant and provocative actions. I believe our armed forces are fully aware of that, they understand it, and they see it," he said. "Unfortunately, everyone here will have to look out for their own safety as well, because, regrettably, there is not a single country in the world that managed to completely protect itself from terrorism."
He went on to say that Russian regional authorities have a vast experience of organizing the voting process under such circumstances.
"It is often better to organize elections with a mobile ballot box that is brought to people in their homes instead of asking them to come to polling stations - which effectively means that we are creating groups of people who are almost certain to be targeted. This is based, unfortunately, on our well-established experience," the diplomat continued.
"And this is exactly how frontline territories have organized their vote - in the form of a remote voting, extended over time to prevent crowds from forming, and with the possibility of online voting. In other words, the entire toolkit of options is being employed to keep people safe while they are exercising their expression of will, thus implementing democratic principles," Miroshnik added.
