MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. The situation in Ukraine and developments in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict were the focus of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with visiting South Africa’s former President Thabo Mbeki, the Russian foreign ministry said on Monday.

"While discussing current issues on the international agenda, special attention was focused on the situation in Ukraine and the state of affairs in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict," it said.

The sides also touched upon "various aspects of the Russian-South African strategic partnership, including strengthening political, trade-and-economic, and humanitarian ties," the ministry said. "The sides reiterated their countries’ commitment to further close coordination within the United Nations, BRICS, the Group of Twenty, and other representative international formats."

Mbeki arrived in Moscow to attend the 9th Primakov Readings international forum, which is being held in Moscow from November 27 to 28. TASS is the general information partner of the Primakov Readings international forum and conference.
