BEIJING, October 20. /TASS/. New Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov arrived in the Chinese capital and began his official duties, the Russian Embassy in Beijing said in a statement on Telegram on Thursday.

"The Russian Federation's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the People's Republic of China Igor Morgulov arrived in Beijing and assumed his office," the statement reads.

Morgulov has been working at the Russian Foreign Ministry since 1991, serving in various diplomatic positions in the ministry’s central office and overseas (in China, the United States and Japan). In particular, he served as minister-counselor at the Russian Embassy in China in 2006-2009. He headed the Foreign Ministry’s First Asian Department from 2009-2011 before being appointed deputy foreign minister in December 2011.
