MOSCOW, December 29. /TASS/. Russia will manufacture around 8-10 business models of medium-haul passenger aircraft Sukhoi Superjet-100 (SSJ-100) yearly, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said on TV news channel Rossiya-24.
A SSJ-100 business variant is a 19-seat aircraft, Manturov recalled.
“This is a real rival [for foreign counterparts]. We have been to India and Bahrain showing this aircraft to those interested in buying it. We already have potential foreign purchasers and contracts will be concluded in the near future. I believe that an average 80 aircraft only in this version will be produced annually. Therefore, our main task is to cope with this amount,” he said.
The airliner will be promoted on international market thanks to the state export supporting program involving Russian agency for insurance of export loans and investments and domestic major state-run bank Vnesheconombank, the minister said.
A Sukhoi Superjet business aircraft made its maiden international flight from Russia’s capital Moscow to India’s capital New Delhi during a visit of Russian delegation to India in December.
Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company, which is owned by Sukhoi Aviation Holding Company incorporated in the United Aircraft-Building Corporation with 75% stake minus one share and Italy’s Alenia Aermacchi with 25% stake plus one share, produces a medium-haul passenger jet SSJ-100.
