MOSCOW, April 11. /ITAR-TASS/. The second ground-based station of the Russian global satellite system, GLONASS, is ready to start operation in Brazil soon, deputy head of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) Sergey Savelyev has said.

“Last year the first ground-based station was launched in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil. I let you in a little secret: the other station is expected to start functioning in the same country. Its functions will be different,” he told ITAR-TASS on Friday.

“We are planning to launch such stations in other countries,” Savelyev said.

“The work is continuing. We’re ready to sign an agreement with one of the European countries. It has been coordinated, but the political situation hampers it,” he said.
