UAE will not increase oil production after leaving OPEC — minister

The UAE will remain a "responsible producer," Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei stated

NEW YORK, April 29. /TASS/. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will not increase oil production after leaving OPEC and OPEC+, UAE Energy Minister Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei said in an interview broadcast on CNBC.

"This is not a decision to raise the production. This is a policy decision taken at the right time for all of the producers. Are we going to increase the production tomorrow? No," he said.

The UAE will remain a "responsible producer," the minister added.

Earlier, the Emirati state news agency WAM reported that the UAE had decided to withdraw from OPEC and OPEC+ effective May 1, 2026. The country assured though that it shares the desire to stabilize the global fuel market. Its oil production policy will take into account global supply and demand, according to the WAM publication.
