European Commission to propose complete ban on Russian oil imports to EU in early 2026

BRUSSELS, December 3. /TASS/. The European Commission (EC) will propose a complete ban on Russian oil imports to the European Union for all in early 2026, EC President Ursula von der Leyen said.

"Last night, we reached a provisional agreement on the Commission's proposal to fully phase out Russian fossil fuels," she said.

According to the deal, member states will have to submit national diversification plans outlining measures to diversifying their gas and oil supplies by March 1, 2026.
