ASTANA, October 14. /TASS/. The decision to launch the remaining Nord Stream 2 line is not being made and is unlikely to be made, Russian President Vladimir Putin told reporters on Friday.
"Although one line there is apparently in working condition, the decision is not being made and it is unlikely to be made. But this is no longer our concern, it is the concern of our partners. I have voiced my version of what guides the leaders of certain states in their business. It seems to me that this is precisely the essence of the problem," the head of state said.
"Apparently, few take into account its (Germany’s - TASS) interests, otherwise Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 would not have been undermined. Although they did not work, they were part of a contingency, that in extreme cases they could be launched, but now there is no such possibility," the Russian leader stated.
Four leaks were discovered in late September on the Nord Stream gas link, with the most recent one pinpointed by Sweden’s coast guard. On September 27r, the Nord Stream AG company reported that three threads of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 offshore gas pipelines had suffered unprecedented damage on September 26. Swedish seismologists later revealed that two explosions had been recorded along the Nord Stream pipelines on September 26. The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation initiated a case on an act of international terrorism after the damage to gas pipelines.
