NOVOSIBIRSK, February 5. /TASS/. The Russian Foundation for Advanced Research Projects plans to update the Marker robotic platform to test future generations of combat robots, developed by the Ministry of Defense, the Foundation CEO Andrei Grigoriyev told journalists Friday.
"The Marker is a robotized platform used for testing the most advanced technologies for second-generation combat robots, which currently only undergo the concept development phase. Marker is also a concept, developed specifically for testing of the third, fourth and fifth generation technologies. However, the specific machines will be eventually developed by the Ministry of Defense," Grigoriev explained.
The military will introduce actual models, developed on this platform, he said.
The Marker platform is a joint project of the Foundation’s National Center for Development of Technologies and Basic Elements of Robotics and the Android Technics Scientific Production Association. The platform is expected to become the foundation for testing of interaction between ground robots, unmanned aerial vehicles and special operations forces. It is positioned as a constructor kit for development of future warfare models.
In December 2020, the Foundation reported that the robotic platform successfully passed fully autonomous navigation trials in winter conditions.
