YEKATERINBURG, April 15. /TASS/. The Russian Central Military District’s 41st Combined Arms Army air defense formation servicemen stationed in the Altai Region fended off a simulated enemy attack on a Buk-M1 missile system at the Kapustin Yar rocket launch and development site in the Astrakhan Region, the Central Military District’s statement issued on Monday reads.
"According to the plan of the drills, with the aid of the Eleron UAV reconnaissance units, they detected the landing of a simulated enemy special operations team in the area where the Buk-M1 missile systems were stationed. The ‘enemy’ team planned to blow up the system’s launching device. Once the alarm went off, a task force and guard units in the area went into action and eliminated the simulated enemy. On top of that, a minesweeping team searched for caches and landmines laid by the enemy squad," the statement says.
The press service specified that the drills were held as part of the combat training on the grounds of the Kapustin Yar military site featuring more than 300 servicemen and more than 90 military vehicles.
The 41st Combined Arms Army formations and military units are designated as part of the Central Military District, and stationed in the Novosibirsk, Omsk, Irkutsk, Altai and Tuva Regions.
