MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. Ukraine expects to receive $89 billion in direct budgetary and military aid from their Western sponsors next year, according to TASS calculations based on data from the National Bank of Ukraine.

As noted in the regulator’s documents, $52 billion in direct budgetary support and $37 billion for the defense component of the Ukraine Support Loan program are envisaged for 2027.

This year Kiev expects these figures to amount to $50 billion and more than $32 billion, respectively. The National Bank notes that "external assistance remains critically important." According to the regulator’s forecast, the budget deficit, excluding grants in revenues, will amount to about 35% of GDP in 2026 and will increase to 37% in 2027.

Earlier, the Ukrainian government presented a draft 2027 budget with a deficit of about $36 billion. This is not the first year that Kiev expects to cover budget deficit with Western funding. Publication Ukrainskaya Pravda calculated that the financial aid allocated by Western partners to Ukraine since February 2022 has amounted to almost $200 billion and was equal to the country’s GDP in 2021. At the same time, the publication compared Ukraine’s dependence on external funding to a patient connected to a lung motor.
