BUDAPEST, October 18. /TASS/. Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar has accused his predecessor, Viktor Orban, of plotting a state coup and warned him of criminal prosecution for that.
"Today, Viktor Orban spoke with a laugh about an armed uprising and a forcible change of the constitutional order. This is one of the most serious crimes against the state," he wrote on his Facebook page (Facebook is banned in Russia due to its ownership by Meta, which has been designated as extremist), adding that under the country’s Criminal Code such actions carry a punishment of up to life in prison.
He attached a video of Orban’s meeting with activists of his Fidesz - Hungarian Civic Alliance party in the city of Lakitelek. When asked about the earlier announced "national resistance," Orban stated that the country is not yet ready for that but Fidesz already can "hand appropriate tools." "Whether people get something blunter or sharper isn’t really the point," the former prime minister added ironically.
Orban has repeatedly said that his party will not cooperate with the Magyar government as it considers his actions unlawful and anti-democratic. On September 13, Orban announced that the period of tolerance toward the policies of the ruling Tisza had come to an end and that the opposition was launching active resistance. He also called the new government "neo-communists," claiming that they had established a political dictatorship in the country.
