DOHA, September 30. /TASS/. In their indirect talks, the United States and Iran have moved on to discussing guarantees and the mechanism for implementing a proposed conflict-resolution plan, Saudi broadcaster Al Arabiya reported, citing a senior source.

"Indirect talks between the US and Iran have entered the stage of discussing the plan’s implementation mechanism and the provision of guarantees," the broadcaster quoted the source as saying.

According to the source, mediators have already conveyed Washington’s response to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The seven-day plan proposed by Iran requires "significant adjustments" before further progress can be made, the source said. The key issues under discussion are the sequence for implementing the agreements and which side should take the first step.

Reuters previously reported, citing an official familiar with the consultations, that Araghchi received the US response to Iran’s proposed confidence-building plan during a meeting with Qatari mediators in Doha on Tuesday evening. He is expected to discuss the proposals in Tehran on Wednesday.

According to Reuters, the main disagreements center on the sequencing of steps under the plan, which seeks to revive and expand on a US-Iran memorandum of understanding signed in June.
