US used AI in preparation for attack on school in Iran’s Minab — Bloomberg

NEW YORK, September 19. /TASS/. The US military relied on artificial intelligence (AI) when deciding to strike an elementary school for girls in the city of Minab in southern Iran, Bloomberg quoted sources involved in the investigation of the incident as saying.

According to their information, the US Central Command responsible for the strike relied too much on the AI built into Palantir's Maven Smart Systems (MSS) systems.

According to Bloomberg sources, just a few hours after the tragedy, Pentagon concluded that the United States was responsible for this strike. When studying the circumstances of the incident, the Ministry of War found that the strike was preceded by not one catastrophic decision, but a string of small decisions.

The US military did not take advantage of a whole series of opportunities to prevent the tragedy, the agency said.

Although the Pentagon almost completed its investigation a few months ago, the report has not yet been made public, Bloomberg says.

On February 28, Iran said that the United States and Israel had attacked an elementary school for girls in Minaba, killing 175 people, including 168 female students, and injuring 95 others. US President Donald Trump later blamed the attack on the Iranian army. Subsequently, it turned out that the rocket fragments found at the impact site were marked as US ammunition.
