Le Pen outstripping Macron in first round of presidential polls in France

The National Rally leader is winning 27.53% pf votes whereas incumbent President is having 26.67%

PARIS, April 10. /TASS/. Marine Le Pen of the far-right political party National Rally is leading in the first round of presidential elections in France, the interior ministry said on Sunday after counting 50% of votes.

Thus, Le Pen is winning 27.53% pf votes whereas incumbent President Emmanuel Macron is having 26.67%

Their closest rival, Jean-Luc Melenchon, the leader of La France Insoumise democratic socialist, left-wing political party, so far is scoring 18.41% of votes. Like the rest nine candidates, who enjoy much lesser support, he has already said he is disappointed by the preliminary results and called on his supporters not to cast their votes for Le Pen in the runoff elections.

Eric Zemmour, the leader of the Reconquista far-right movement, is fourth with 6.65% of votes. Republican candidate Valerie Pecresse has 4.7%, Yannik Jadot of EELV has 4.02%, Jean Lassalle of Resistons has four percent, Fabien Roussel of the Communist party has 2.4%, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan (DLF) has 2.37%, Social Party candidate Anne Hidalgo has 1.76%, Philippe Poutou (NPA) has 0.84%, and Nathalie Arthaud, a Workers' Struggle nominee, has 0.65%.
