UNITED NATIONS, March 21. /TASS/. A draft resolution of the UN General Assembly on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, which has been proposed by France and Mexico, has been received by the UN Secretariat, the office of the president of the UN General Assembly said on Monday.
"A draft resolution entitled 'Humanitarian consequences of the aggression against Ukraine', has been received by the UN Secretariat and is open for co-sponsorship," the office said in a statement. A document is usually taken up for discussion a day after its text has been received.
The text of the document is based on a draft UN Security Council resolution that was previously prepared by France and Mexico. Last Monday, France and Mexico announced that they were ending their two-week-long attempts to agree on the resolution on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine in the UN Security Council and would submit it for discussion by the General Assembly.
Last Thursday, Russia's Permanent Representative at the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said that Russia had withdrawn a request for a vote in the UN Security Council on its draft resolution on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine due to the fact that a number of delegations are currently being pressured by Western countries. Nebenzya said that Russia wasn’t withdrawing the draft resolution itself.
