Moscow region reports 2,323 new coronavirus cases, pandemic’s maximum

The maximum number of cases in the region is updated for the fourth day in a row

MOSCOW, June 23. /TASS/. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the Moscow region increased by 2,323 over the day, this is a new maximum since the beginning of the pandemic, the operational headquarters for the fight against coronavirus reported on Wednesday.

The maximum number of cases in the region is updated for the fourth day in a row: on Tuesday, 1,878 cases were detected, on Monday — 1,811, on Sunday — 1,638. In total, 296,547 coronavirus cases have been registered in the region since the beginning of the pandemic.

During the day, 1,079 people were discharged, a total of 240,888 people in the region have recovered. The number of deaths per day was 12, in total 6 367 died since the beginning of the pandemic. Currently, 46,969 people are ill in the region.

At the same time, Russia confirmed 17,594 COVID-19 cases over the past day, bringing the total caseload to 5,368,513, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters. In relative terms, the growth rate reached 0.33%. Currently, 335,508 people are ill in Russia.
