Relations with Russia are among priorities of Vietnam’s foreign policy — country’s PM

The Prime Minister confirmed that Vietnam always welcomes and creates favorable conditions for foreign investors in general and for Russia investors in particular

HANOI, August 3. /TASS/. The development of relations of friendship and cooperation with the Russian Federation is one of the long-term and strategic priorities of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV), Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said on Tuesday. 

He was receiving in Hanoi Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko and Chairman of the Board of the Russian gas company Novatek Leonid Mikhelson, who is on a working visit there.

The head of the Vietnamese government stressed that Hanoi intends to strengthen traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia.

He said he is happy with that the bilateral relations continue to develop actively and positively. Despite the difficulties and limitations associated with the pandemic, contacts between the two countries at all levels, including the highest, are regularly maintained via telephone and online, said Pham Minh Chinh.

According to the head of government, Russian investors and enterprises have strengths and opportunities Vietnam is interested in to ensure its sustainable socio-economic development. In particular, he named the development of infrastructure, energy and the oil and gas sector. Vietnam wants to develop cooperation in these areas with Russia for the benefit of the two countries, peace, cooperation and development in the region and around the world, Pham Minh Chinh concluded.
