MOSCOW, January 21. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent warm wishes to Spanish opera singer Placido Domingo on the occasion of his 80th birthday. Putin’s telegram was published on the Kremlin website.
"Please accept my heartiest congratulations on your 80th anniversary. Millions of people in Spain, Russia, countries in Europe and all over the world, are celebrating this anniversary with you, a person of extraordinary bright talent, people whom your art is dedicated to, whom you inspire and give great creative energy," Putin said in his message.
He added that Domingo is valued for his openness, charm, love for life, for the genuine attention he pays to charity and support of young performers.
"I wish good health, kindness and luck in all endeavors to you and your loved ones," Putin concluded.
Placido Domingo was born on January 21, 1941 in Madrid. He performed in many opera theaters across the world, including Covent Garden (London), Metropolitan Opera (New York), La Scala (Milan), the Mariinsky Theater (St. Petersburg). Domingo first performed in Russia in 1974 on stage of the Bolshoi Theater. Domingo last visited Russia in October 2020.
