Russian Ground Forces receive 1,500 new, upgraded tanks in 2023 — defense minister

Sergey Shoigu specified that the Borei A-class nuclear submarine Imperator Aleksandr III, armed with Bulava missiles, had entered service in the Russian Navy

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Russia’s Ground Forces have received over 1,500 new and upgraded tanks in 2023, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said.

"A total of 1,530 new and upgraded tanks were provided to the Ground Forces, as well as 2,518 infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers," he specified at an expanded board meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry.

Shoigu pointed out that the Borei A-class nuclear submarine Imperator Aleksandr III, armed with Bulava missiles, had entered service in the Russian Navy.

According to the defense chief, Russia’s Aerospace Forces have received 237 planes and helicopters, 86 units of anti-aircraft weapons and 67 radar stations since the beginning of the year. New training and combat aircraft have permitted increasing the flight time of cadets by 20%, Shoigu added. In addition, the defense minister said that the process of providing four Tu-160M strategic bombers to the strategic nuclear forces was nearly complete.
