Almost all Russian armored vehicles get Lesochek electronic warfare system — Putin

The Lesochek electronic warfare system suppresses radio control channels of mines and improvised explosive devices

MOSCOW, December 14. /TASS/. Almost all Russian armored vehicles are currently equipped with Lesochek electronic warfare systems. Russian President Vladimir Putin said at his combined Direct Line Q&A session and year-end press conference.

"You know that many things are appearing in EW systems. You probably know all these names, maybe even better than I do. Lesochek, a new system, is installed in almost all armored vehicles, well, as far as it is possible, of course. We will ramp it up, of course," he said in response to a drone-related question from military correspondent Dmitry Kulko.

The Lesochek electronic warfare system suppresses radio control channels of mines and improvised explosive devices. In 2020, materials from the Russian Defense Ministry's 38th Research, Development and Testing Institute of Armored Hardware and Armament, which were obtained by TASS, showed there were plans to install this system on T-72B3M and T-80BVM tanks during their upgrades.
