India hopes for Putin’s participation in BRICS summit — top diplomat

The 18th BRICS Summit will be held in New Delhi on September 12-13

MOSCOW, August 24. /TASS/. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi hopes that Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend a BRICS summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, visiting Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said at a meeting with the Russian leader.

According to the top Indian diplomat, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is looking forward to a meeting at the Shanghai Cooperation (SCO) summit and hopes that the Russian president would be able to attend the annual summit of BRICS.

"We have a very strong picture of cooperation," he added.

India holds the BRICS presidency this year. The main theme of the Indian presidency is "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability". The 18th BRICS Summit will be held in New Delhi on September 12-13 and is expected to be focused on global economic and political challenges, as well as expanding multilateral cooperation between its member countries.
