WASHINGTON, November 8. /TASS/. About 50,000 people will take part in the "People’s March on Washington" demonstration ahead of the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump, The Washington Post reported, citing the event's organizers.

According to the newspaper, the rally is scheduled for January 18, 2025. Demonstrators plan to protest in connection with the political priorities of the newly elected head of the White House. Future protesters believe that Trump will infringe on the rights of women, immigrants, representatives of the LGBT community (recognized in Russia as an extremist movement and banned), racial and religious minorities.

In January 2017, before the beginning of Trump's first presidential term, hundreds of marches of various sizes took place in many US cities, including Chicago (Illinois), Boston (Massachusetts), New Orleans (Louisiana), Miami (Florida), and Denver (Colorado). The largest demonstrations drew hundreds of thousands of people. In addition to New York (up to 500,000 participants), the largest protests were held in Los Angeles (California) and Washington, DC, where about half a million people took to the streets.

On November 5, the general elections were held in the US. Americans voted for president, one-third of the Senate, and the entire House of Representatives, as well as governors in 11 states and two territories. Republican nominee Trump won the presidential election.
