BAKU, January 29. /TASS/. Iran has ignored Azerbaijan’s repeated requests for tighter security measures at its embassy in Tehran, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov said on Sunday.
"We informed the Iranian side about threats to Azerbaijan’s diplomatic missions. We demanded the Iranian authorities tighten security measures. The incident that took place the day before yesterday shows that Iran has ignored these demands," he said.
A plane with the evacuated personnel of the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran landed in Baku on Sunday evening. The Azerbaijani foreign ministry said on January 27 that the country’s embassy in Tehran had come under armed attack, killing a security officer and wounding two more. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev described the incident as a terror attack and demanded a thorough investigation of the incident and "punishment of the terrorists.".
