Center-right coalition takes lead in Italy’s parliamentary election — exit polls

According to exit polls, the coalition received 41-45% of the vote

ROME, September 26. /TASS/. The center-right coalition of the Brothers of Italy, League and Forza Italia parties is leading in Italy’s parliamentary election, the RAI News 24 TV channel reported, citing exit polls.

According to exit polls, the coalition received 41-45% of the vote. The center-left coalition led by the Democratic Party garnered up to 30%.

According to the Interior Ministry, voter turnout stood at 64.7% as of 11:00 pm.

Exit polls show that the center-right will gain a majority in both chambers of parliament and thus will form a new government. Experts point out that leader of the Brothers of Italy party Giorgia Meloni is highly likely to become Italy’s first female prime minister.
