MOSCOW, February 19. /TASS/. A twelve-year-old girl was killed in the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka in Russia’s southern Belgorod region bordering Ukraine as a result of shelling from Ukraine’s territory, the region’s governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, he said that a young woman was killed as a result of shelling.
"The victim has been identified as Vasilisa, 12. She was speaking with her father over the phone when a shell hit the ground behind her back… No one will ever be able to console the mother and the father. No word can resurrect the only child," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to the governor, nine artillery shells fired from the Ukrainian territory damaged three private houses, a household structure and a car.
Several municipalities came under shelling by Ukrainian troops in the Belgorod region on Sunday. Damage to dwelling houses and infrastructure facilities was reported.
