Steve Witkoff arrived in Moscow soon after noon on Thursday

MOSCOW, March 13. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff behind closed doors late on Thursday, Kremlin Aide Yury Ushakov told the Izvestia daily.

"Witkoff’s meeting with Vladimir Putin will take place behind closed doors tonight," he said.

The US official arrived in Moscow soon after noon on Thursday. Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmirty Peskov said earlier that US negotiators on the Ukraine issue were on their way to Russia and communication was planned for Thursday.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on March 12 that Witkoff would travel to Moscow later in the week to discuss ways to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
