MOSCOW, December 30. /TASS/. Russian human rights ombudswoman Tatiana Moskalkova has called on international organizations to condemn Ukraine’s shelling attack on Belgorod as a blatant violation of human rights and take measure to prevent such attacks in the future.

"I think that this barbaric attack is the most vivid manifestation of cynicism and a flagrant violation of human rights," she said, adding that she has urged "international bodies to condemn this unprecedented case of the violation of international humanitarian law and take measures to prevent such situation."

She extended condolences to the families of those killed and wished the soonest recovery to those injured.

Ukrainian troops have been shelling Belgorod and the Belgorod Region since late Friday. The latest strike was delivered on downtown Belgorod with the use of cluster munitions from Czech-made multiple rocket launchers. At least 18 people, including three children, were killed and 111 others were injured. According to the Russian defense ministry, air defense systems intercepted both missiles and most of the projectiles. Otherwise, the consequences would have been much more serious, it added.
