Relations between Russia and Djibouti will continue to develop successfully, helping strengthen peace and security in the Horn of Africa region, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in a telegram of congratulations to his Djiboutian counterpart Mahamoud Ali Youssouf over the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"Sergey Lavrov's message expressed confidence that the traditionally friendly Russian-Djiboutian relations and mutually advantageous cooperation will continue to develop successfully for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries, in the interests of strengthening peace and security in the Horn of Africa and the continent as a whole. The Russian foreign minister confirmed his readiness to continue teamwork to deepen the multifaceted partnership," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a report on Monday.
Mahamoud Youssouf also sent a telegram of congratulations to his Russian counterpart, in which he "welcomed the significant progress achieved in the development of cooperation" between Russia and Djibouti. He stated the wish of the republic's leadership to further strengthen ties between the peoples of the two states on various fronts "based on the invariable principles of mutual respect and consideration for each other's interests."
