MOSCOW, October 17. /TASS/. Russian combat aircraft, missile and artillery troops struck two Ukrainian army command posts and six ammunition depots in the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov reported on Monday.
"in the past 24 hours, operational-tactical and army aviation aircraft, missile and artillery troops struck two command posts in the areas of the settlements of Dvurechnaya in the Kharkov Region and Drobyshevo in the Donetsk People’s Republic. They destroyed six ammunition depots in the areas of the communities of Figolevka in the Kharkov Region, Verkhnekamenskoye and Soledar in the Donetsk People’s Republic, Novogrigorovka in the Nikolayev Region, Novopetrovka and Davydov Brod in the Kherson Region," the spokesman said.
In the past 24 hours, Russian troops struck 39 Ukrainian artillery units at firing positions, manpower and military hardware in 127 areas, the general said.
Russian forces continued delivering precision strikes against military command centers and energy infrastructure sites in the special military operation in Ukraine, Konashenkov reported.
"In the past 24 hours, the Russian Armed Forces continued delivering strikes by long-range air-and sea-based high-precision weapons against Ukrainian military command centers and energy infrastructure facilities. All the designated targets were struck," the spokesman said.
Russian troops thwarted a Ukrainian army attempt to break through the defense in the Kherson Region, eliminating over 100 militants, Konashenkov reported.
"In the Nikolayev-Krivoi Rog direction, Russian troops thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian army units to break through the defense in the area of the settlement of Bruskinskoye in the Kherson Region, destroying over 100 Ukrainian military personnel, 13 combat armored vehicles and eight motor vehicles," the spokesman said.
Russian troops pushed Ukrainian armed formations back to initial positions in the enemy’s unsuccessful attempt to advance in the Lisichansk area, Konashenkov reported.
"In the Lisichansk direction, a Ukrainian battalion tactical group undertook an unsuccessful attempt to advance towards the settlement of Stryapovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. By active operations of Russian troops, the Ukrainian army units were pushed back to initial positions," the spokesman said.
The Russian forces destroyed over 50 Ukrainian troops, six tanks, two combat armored vehicles and four pickup trucks, the general specified.
Russian army aviation aircraft and artillery struck two Ukrainian mechanized brigades in the Kupyansk area, killing over 160 militants, Konashenkov reported.
"In the Kupyansk direction, Russian artillery fire and army aviation aircraft strikes inflicted damage on manpower and military equipment of the Ukrainian army’s 14th and 92nd mechanized brigades in the areas of the communities of Sinkovka, Petropavlovka, Peschanoye, Ivanovka and Berestovoye in the Kharkov Region," the spokesman said.
The strikes eliminated about 160 Ukrainian troops, four combat armored vehicles, two artillery guns, a pickup truck and two motor vehicles, the general specified.
Russian forces destroyed a Ukrainian arms repair base and a fuel depot in the Nikolayev area, Konashenkov reported.
"In the area of the city of Nikolayev, a depot of fuel for the Ukrainian military hardware was destroyed. Also, in the settlement of Bereznegovatoye in the Nikolayev Region, a facility for the repair of Ukrainian armaments and military hardware was obliterated," the spokesman said.
Russian forces struck a Ukrainian battery of Smerch multiple launch rocket systems and a battery of American M777 howitzers in counter-battery fire in the Kharkov Region in the special military operation in Ukraine, Konashenkov reported.
"In counter-battery warfare, the strikes destroyed a Ukrainian battery of Smerch multiple launch rocket systems in the area of the settlement of Kazachya Lopan, and also a battery of American M777 howitzers in the area of the community of Metallovka in the Kharkov Region," the spokesman said.
Russian air defense forces shot down nine Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles and intercepted 21 HIMARS and Olkha rockets and two American HARM anti-radar missiles in the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"Air defense capabilities destroyed nine unmanned aerial vehicles in the areas of the settlements of Yagodnoye in the Kharkov Region, Pilipovka in the Lugansk People’s Republic, Novosyolka and Valeryanovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, Shirokaya Balka, Sukhanovo, Tomarino, Pyatikhatki and Ingulovka in the Kherson Region," the spokesman said.
"They shot down 21 rockets of HIMARS and Olkha multiple launch rocket systems in the areas of the settlements of Vladimirovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, Olgovka, Nikolayevka, Novaya Kakhovka, Vesyoloye and Otradokamenka in the Kherson Region. In addition, they intercepted two American HARM anti-radar missiles in the area of the community of Antonovka in the Kherson Region," the general said.
In all, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 323 Ukrainian combat aircraft, 161 helicopters, 2,256 unmanned aerial vehicles, 380 surface-to-air missile systems, 5,855 tanks and other combat armored vehicles, 871 multiple rocket launchers, 3,484 field artillery guns and mortars and 6,610 special military motor vehicles since the beginning of their special military operation in Ukraine, Konashenkov reported.
