Electric cars to make up almost half of all cars on road by 2030 — Rosatom CEO

Rosatom "is currently building out production for electric engines for cars, including control systems," Alexey Likhachev noted

MOSCOW, March 25. /TASS/. The share of electric vehicles globally will reach 40-45% by 2030, Chief Executive Officer of state-run corporation Alexey Likhachev said, adding that Russia will produce charging stations for them.

"I think that according to the most moderate analysis, 40-45% of cars in our country and globally will be battery-powered by 2030. It is not difficult to calculate the volumes. I can say at some emotional, non-professional level that, for example, all of my children dream of electric cars. I don’t know why but they want to buy electric cars. This is wonderful. And we will produce chargers for them," he said in an interview with RBC.

Rosatom "is currently building out production for electric engines for cars, including control systems," the CEO noted. "And we would like to universalize this platform with a charging system, an engine and control system to a product consumed by almost all car users," he said, adding that the first sample may appear within 2-3 years.
