Russia’s 2023-2025 draft budget envisages resources for new regions — Finance Minister

The forthcoming integration of new regions into the Russian Federation will be one of the tasks of the upcoming three-year period, Anton Siluanov said

MOSCOW, October 3. /TASS/. Russia’s draft federal budget for 2023-2025 provides for resources to restore the economies of new regions of the country, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said speaking at the Federation Council on Monday. The Federation Council is the upper house of the Russian parliament.

"The forthcoming integration of new regions into the Russian Federation will be one of the tasks of the upcoming three-year period. The federal budget provides for the necessary resources: both for current support, for ensuring the social standards that are in force in the Russian Federation, and funds for restoring the economies of new regions of the Russian Federation," Siluanov said at parliamentary hearings on the draft federal budget for 2023 and for the planning period of 2024 and 2025.

From September 23 to September 27, the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) as well as the Kherson Region and the Zaporozhye Region held a referendum where the majority of voters opted to join Russia.

On September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the heads of the DPR and the LPR, the Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions signed treaties on their accession to Russia. In his speech at the signing ceremony, Putin called on Kiev to immediately cease hostilities and return to the negotiating table.
